Welcome to the Maple Room!
Thank you for stopping by our class webpage. The time I get to spend in the classroom with the children is truely a gift and through our webpage I wish to share that gift with you. I hope you find our class page helpful in explaining some of the things that your child does on a day to day basis in the classroom as well as finding any important forms or documents. There are several aspects to our page as you notice in the headings above. Below you will find our schedule and a short explaination of the items in our schedule.
Our Schedule
Our schedule may change time to time based on the needs of the children. As we notice the class in unrest or children having trouble becoming immersed in their work, we look at what we can do to help them. Sometimes this means rearranging the schedule. As the schedule changes we will update the schedule on here.

What Happens During...
Work Cycle
During the Work Cycle the children are guided to make their own choices of what to work on by using their workplan and checking the board for required works. We have the children pick one work from each of the subject areas before repeating a subject area and have required works to encourage practice of the new lessons given that week. Our work cycle is at least three hours of uninterrupted work with the exception of small group lessons.
Lunch
To promote conversation, manners and proper table setting our class has lunch together at tables with place settings.
Snack
Throughout the work cycle the children participate in class snack prepared and served by the students. They are free to choose when they wish to partake in snack as long as they first finish the work they have out at their space. Our wonderful families each provide snack a few times a year for the class.
